Doll Project
2020-present

The doll explores themes of unstable ancestral symbols and the link between femininity and objectification through the recycled and re-appropriated images of manga as well as religious and personal source material. In the 21st century, the era of anime waifus, ai porn and looksmaxxing, femininity has been abstracted further and further into the ideals of the Epstinean class. These images, usually white, hairless, voluptuous and youthful are so far from the lived and experienced reality of being a woman that they deconstruct the symbol altogether. The doll, a loaded symbol of objectification and femininity itself, represents the mesh of images we see on a daily basis and is created sustainability from recycled paper and fibers.
